Historia
In the bustling city of Blackstone, a strange event occurred every night at midnight. A train would arrive at the old station, even though no trains had run there in years. The townspeople called it the Midnight Train, and rumors swirled about where it came from and where it went.
Sophia, a young journalist with a taste for adventure, decided to investigate. She had heard stories of passengers boarding the train and never returning, but she was determined to uncover the truth. Armed with her notebook and camera, she waited at the station one chilly night.
As the clock struck midnight, a faint whistle echoed through the air. Sophia’s heart raced as the train appeared out of the darkness, its black engine gleaming under the moonlight. The doors opened, and a conductor stepped out. He wore a uniform that seemed old-fashioned, and his expression was calm but mysterious.
“Are you boarding, miss?” he asked.
Sophia hesitated but nodded. She stepped onto the train and found herself in a luxurious carriage filled with velvet seats and golden lamps. Other passengers sat quietly, their faces unreadable. The train began to move, and Sophia felt a strange sensation, as if time itself were shifting.
She decided to speak to the conductor. “Where is this train going?” she asked.
“To the crossroads of choice,” he replied cryptically.
Sophia walked through the carriages, observing the passengers. Each seemed lost in thought, clutching objects that appeared meaningful—a photograph, a book, a necklace. She sat next to an elderly man holding a worn letter. “What brings you here?” she asked.
“I’m searching for forgiveness,” he said. “This train offers a chance to revisit the past.”
Sophia was stunned. “Revisit the past? How?”
The man explained that the Midnight Train traveled through memories, allowing passengers to face moments they wished to change or understand. But there was a catch. “You can only observe,” he said. “You cannot alter what has happened.”
Curious and a bit skeptical, Sophia decided to stay on the train as it entered a glowing tunnel. She felt a pull, as if her own memories were being awakened. Suddenly, she found herself standing in her childhood home, watching her younger self argue with her sister.
The scene was painfully familiar. It was the last time she had seen her sister before a long estrangement. Sophia felt tears in her eyes as she realized how much she regretted not making amends sooner. The scene faded, and she was back on the train.
The conductor appeared. “Did you learn what you needed to?” he asked.
Sophia nodded. “I need to fix things in the present,” she said.
As the train returned to the station, Sophia felt a sense of clarity. She thanked the conductor and stepped off the train. The Midnight Train vanished into the night, leaving no trace behind.
The next morning, Sophia called her sister and apologized. They talked for hours, laughing and crying, and planned to meet soon. Sophia wrote about her experience in the local newspaper, describing the Midnight Train not as a mystery, but as a lesson.
Though she never saw the train again, Sophia often visited the old station, wondering who else might need its journey through the crossroads of choice.
